Silico® Phenyl Silicone Fluids
Compared to dimethyl silicone fluids of the same viscosity, methyl phenyl silicone fluids have a higher viscosity-temperature coefficient, lower freezing point, and higher flash point.
Phenyl silicone fluids are commonly used for high-temperature applications. Replacing the methyl group with a phenyl group in polysiloxane enhances oxidation resistance, thermal stability, and shear resistance. The phenyl group is typically introduced via phenylmethylsiloxane or diphenylsiloxane.
Silico® offers phenyl methyl silicone fluids with high phenyl content, ideal for heat exchange fluids, dielectric coolants, silicone diffusion pump oil, and chromatographic stationary phases. The higher the phenyl content, the better the thermal stability and refractive index.
Silico® also provides low-viscosity phenyl silicone fluids like Silico® PF8704 diffusion pump fluid (CAS No. 3982-82-9) and Silico® PF8705 diffusion pump fluid (CAS No. 3390-61-2) for high and ultra-high vacuum applications.
Silico® PC19816 (Phenyl Trimethicone) is widely used in cosmetics as an anti-foaming agent, hair conditioning agent, and skin-conditioning agent to enhance product performance.

Phenyl Silicone Fluids: Guide
Phenyl silicone fluids are specialized silicone oils where methyl groups are partially or fully replaced by phenyl groups. This modification enhances their thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and dielectric properties. They maintain low viscosity across a wide temperature range, making them suitable for extreme conditions. Common applications include heat transfer fluids, dielectric coolants, diffusion pump oils, and lubricants for sensitive equipment. These fluids also find use in cosmetics, providing water repellency and enhancing product performance.
