Silico® E701 Epoxy-Modified Silicone Oil
Silico® E701 Epoxy-Modified Silicone Oil is a novel organosilicon material formed by grafting epoxyalkanes onto polydimethylsiloxane. It combines the excellent properties of both components.
Key Features
E701 is based on a polydimethylsiloxane backbone and exhibits the following performance advantages:
Excellent surface lubrication – Enhances surface smoothness as a treatment agent.
Low surface tension – Reduces internal stress, preventing brittleness and cracking.
Superior softness – Improves material flexibility and hand feel.
Wide temperature stability – Effective from -60°C to +250°C.
Outstanding aging and UV resistance – Enhances long-term durability.
The epoxy-functional side chains offer:
High compatibility with organic resins (especially epoxy resins), solving incompatibility and phase separation issues common in pure silicones.
Reactive functionality – Epoxy groups can chemically bond with organic substrates to form high-performance hybrid materials.
Surface deactivation – In spandex oil formulations, E701 deactivates isocyanate groups to prevent fiber sticking.
Enhanced fiber properties – Epoxy groups react with fiber surfaces, improving smoothness and wash resistance.
Technical Specifications
Technical Specifications | Details |
---|---|
Appearance | Light yellow, semi-transparent liquid |
Viscosity (25°C, cps) | 50–500 |

Main Applications
Application | Benefits |
---|---|
Textile softener & smoothening agent | Ideal for cotton, wool, silk, and linen. Delivers a feather-like, silky hand feel. Wash-resistant and non-yellowing. Offers an alternative softness style compared to amino silicone oils. |
Spandex oiling aid | Prevents fiber adhesion during spandex fiber processing. |
Epoxy resin modifier | Enhances flexibility and reduces internal stress, preventing brittleness and cracking in cured epoxy systems. |
Other uses | Suitable for further development in specialty applications. |
Usage Guidelines
For textile treatment, emulsify first with a surfactant, then use as a 1% padding or dipping solution.
For resin modification, add at 5–10% dosage based on resin formulation.
Precautions
Avoid contact with acids or bases, which may cause epoxy ring-opening and crosslinking.
Limit exposure to air—CO₂ and moisture may form acids and trigger crosslinking.
Packaging & Storage
