3-Methacryloxypropyltriethoxysilane Description

3-Methacryloxypropyltriethoxysilane is a versatile silane coupling agent suitable for polyethylene and its copolymers of various shapes and densities. It offers high processing tolerance, making it ideal for filled composites and applications requiring high service temperatures, excellent stress-cracking resistance, and superior abrasion and impact resistance. This compound can be grafted onto polymer main chains, enabling the modification of materials like polyethylene. The resulting ester-functionalized side chains provide active sites for warm water cross-linking, enhancing performance in advanced material applications.

Usage
  • Used in glass fiber can effectively improve the mechanical properties (bending strength, tensile strength, etc.) of its glass fiber products and the adhesion of the substrate (a variety of resins, including thermosetting and thermoplastic, etc.).
  • Used as additive after ink and coating, it can make ink and coating film have excellent film hardness and brightness; improve the adhesion of fiber optic coating.
  • As reinforcing agent and cross-linking promoter, it is widely used in composite materials, coatings, inks, glues and sealing materials, etc. It can also be used as resin modification additive and enzyme fixing agent.
  • As a crosslinking agent, it can be used in silane crosslinked polyethylene cables and tubes; in the wire and cable industry, the coupling agent is used to treat clay-filled, peroxide-crosslinked EPDM systems, which improves the consumption factor and specific inductance resistance.
  • Copolymerized with vinyl acetate and acrylic or methacrylic monomers, these polymers are widely used in coatings, adhesives and sealants to provide excellent adhesion and durability.

3-Methacryloxypropyltriethoxysilane: Guide

3-Methacryloxypropyltriethoxysilane is a bifunctional silane coupling agent containing both a methacryloxy organic group and an ethoxy silyl inorganic group. It exhibits dual reactivity, allowing it to bond with organic thermosetting resins while also interacting with inorganic surfaces such as glass fiber, clay, quartz, and other silica-based materials. This makes it highly effective in enhancing adhesion, durability, and compatibility in composite materials.

3-(Triethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate serves as a chemical intermediate that bridges different materials, improving mechanical strength, electrical properties, weather resistance, and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in unsaturated polyester, acrylic adhesives, and advanced composite materials, ensuring stronger adhesion and enhanced performance.
