Vinyltrimethoxysilane Description
Vinyltrimethoxysilane (CAS 2768-02-7) is a colorless transparent liquid with an ester odor, soluble in most organic solvents but insoluble in water. It is soluble in water at a pH of 3.0 to 3.5, with a neutral pH of 7.
This versatile silane is ideal for complex shapes, various polyethylene densities, copolymers, and filled composites. It offers high service temperatures and excellent resistance to pressure cracking, memory, abrasion, and impact.
Vinyltrimethoxysilane serves as both a coupling and crosslinking agent for polymers like polyethylene, polypropylene, and unsaturated polyester. It enhances the adhesion between glass fibers, inorganic fillers, and vinyl-reactive resins.

Vinyltrimethoxysilane: Guide
Vinyltrimethoxysilane is soluble in ethanol, isopropanol, benzene, toluene, and gasoline, but insoluble in water. It hydrolyzes in water with an acidic solution and reacts with water vapor to form silanol.
Applications:
- Crosslinking Agent for Polyethylene: Used in cross-linked polyethylene, enhancing electrical properties, heat resistance, and stress cracking resistance. Ideal for wire insulation and sheath materials.
- Improved Polyethylene Performance: Enhances resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons, oil, stress cracking, and improves mechanical strength and heat resistance.
- Boosts Electrical & Thermal Conductivity: Improves electrical and thermal conductivity and extends the shelf life of room temperature silicone rubber.
