Methyl Silicone Resin Describe

Methyl silicone resin uses toluene and xylene as solvents. The product has excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, electric insulation, moisture-proof and water-proof. It is an ideal adhesive for manufacturing high temperature resistant hard mica board and glass fiber cloth laminate, and can also be used as wear-resistant and polishing agent for marble and floor tiles. The product has brittle and hard characteristics, high degree of curing, and low volatile content in the curing process.

Silico has a variety of methyl silicone resins, of which R1060, R1070, R1080, R1090 are the most commonly used. R1080 silicone resin is a pure methyl solid silicone resin with very high silica content. The other three are in liquid form.

  • Curing Process: The resin cures within 30 minutes at temperatures ranging from 110°C to 130°C. When crosslinking agents are added, it can form a cured film even at room temperature.

Molecular Structure: {CH₃SiO₁.₅}ₐ[CH₃]₂SiOᵦ

Performance:

R1090 is a methyl polysiloxane silicone resin, synthesized from methyl triethoxy silane through hydrolysis, polycondensation, and preparation. It contains hydrolytic genes, and in the presence of a small amount of catalyst, it undergoes further transformation into an insoluble, infusible thermosetting resin with a three-dimensional network structure.

Under the action of a curing agent, R1090’s ethoxy group easily hydrolyzes, and the hydroxyl groups readily condense. This leads to the formation of a thin film on various materials, including plastics, metals, ceramics, and more. Typically, only 0.1-0.2% of an amine curing agent is required for curing. At temperatures between 60°C and 80°C, the film can form within a few minutes to one hour, making R1090 ideal for low-temperature, fast-curing applications.
